Another successful year in the Zebrafish Breeding course held in Italy.
In October, TECNIPLAST, our leading partner in Vivarium solutions, promoted the 6th Annual Zebrafish Breeding Course, held at the TECNIPLAST Congress Center in Buguggiat, Italy. Presentations were given by facility managers and veterinarians who promote Zebrafish breeding in their facilities and in Zebrafish Communities around the world. Attendees had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of breeding, growing, and facility management. Among the topics covered in the course were Reproduction Management, Offspring, Health Management, Cryopreservation and In Vitro Fertilization Techniques, Genetic Management and Facility Planning. STEQ supports initiatives and events that encourage the development of research focused on the health area. In fact, today Brazil is a world reference in the manufacture of vaccines, due to the numerous researches carried out in this sector. As another incentive action, STEQ sponsored Prof. Danillo Pinhal, a reference researcher in the aquatic research segment, from UNESP/Botucatu, part of the course promoted by TECNIPLAST. See below Prof. Danillo’s testimony about his experience in the course:
“Between October 3rd and 6th, I had the opportunity and satisfaction to participate in the 6th Annual International Zebrafish Husbandry Course, at the training center of the company Tecniplast, based in Buguggiate, Italy. This experience was very enriching, both personally and professionally, as it provided contact with researchers, professors and specialized technicians – from 13 countries belonging to the five continents – endowed with expertise in the creation, management and scientific experimentation with the Zebrafish model. The course program was broad and complete, with the speakers addressing ecological and ethological, morphofunctional and reproductive ethical aspects. In addition, valuable information on planning, construction and maintenance of vivariums was widely discussed, in order to contribute to the rational use and well-being of animals.
I also highlight the knowledge acquired during a technical visit to the aquarium systems manufacturer’s facilities, where we were introduced to the design and project engineering departments, and to the manufacturing, assembly and quality control sectors. I recommend taking the course to all those who want to specialize in the area.
I thank Germán (Steq) and Marco Brocca (Tecniplast) for the opportunity and congratulate them for the excellent course.”
As soon as we have more information about the next edition of the course, in 2018, we will disclose it to the Zebrafish Community in Brazil. Follow!
